Review: LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub - Good Enough To Eat!

I picked this up about half a year ago, but the summer weather was kind to my lips so I didn't get that much use out of it.  With the colder weather my lips have needed a bit more care. For a while now I've been making my own lip scrub from granulated sugar and olive oil, and it did make my lips smooth but it didn't taste great...enter Lush's Bubblegum flavour sugar lip scrub!

It doesn't smell like my idea of bubblegum, but it very sickly sweet and billed as edible, but I prefer to wash it off. It's supposed to smell like the popular Snow Fairy shower gel, but I haven't personally tried that one. It actually works a lot better than my DIY olive oil & sugar scrub as mine was always a bit too runny. The Lush scrub is made of of fine-grained Castor sugar and jojoba oil. And it's vegan.

I'm not entirely convinced it's worth £4.50, but the price is in line with what Lush charge for other products, and now I have the handy little jar I can always use it to make my own concoction again! However the product does last for a long time, with 3-4 uses per week it would last a few months.  So I probably will repurchase when this one runs out.

I'll definitely be busting out the scrub to get ready for a twirl under the mistletoe this season!

  4. @Julie - It's such a scandal how the price almost doubles for things in Ireland, I want to move to Dublin soon but the cost of living there is so much (and I live in London!), and make up and beauty bits are out of sight! The Americans have it lucky - things for $10 there automatically cost £10 here, it's like retailers are unaware of the exchange rate mechanism! ¬_¬

  8. Thanks for this review. I have been wanting to try it out but I was a bit iffy about the bubble gum smell. I guess I will give it a try!

  9. This looks totally scrummy! I adore Snow Fairy so if this did actually smell the same then it would have to be my perfect lip product! Seems like everyone is doing reviews on Lush goodies at the min but I cant really afford to splash out on anything. Might make an exception for this and call it "medicine" for my lips - that way I'd have to buy it :)

  10. @Justine - I'm not completely in love with the taste, as I said it's a little bit sickly, it almost reminds me of the taste of Calpol! But it's hella better than plain old olive oil and sugar!

  14. It sounds yummy :) Try mixing lemon juice with sugar, that's what I use and it works great! Plus it tastes like lemonade and it's much cheaper than this ;)

  15. This type of beauty I will return to, but first I want to establish a definition and proper understanding of what "true" beauty is. This is first and foremost whatever attracts us to our true fulfillment and happiness. In his book The Beauty of Holiness and the Holiness of Beauty, John Saward, drawing on the work of St.Thomas Aquinas, defines beauty as: "the gleaming of the substantial or actual form that is found in the proportioned parts of a material things." In other words, while one can find beauty in the outward appearance, one must go deeper to the nature or the essence of the thing. cbd bath bomb benefitsd

  16. And between all the assumptions, presumptions and preconceived notions beauty has definitely lost it's meaning. From being a delight to the soul, beauty, rather has become a weapon to condescend those who lie below the line of perfect curves, appealing colour of skin, kind of hair or particular facial sets, a judgement based on practices begin by foul people with intentions of feeling superior just because they were blessed with the features mentioned above. more information
